RAW meets REFINED is a curated exhibition at heart of the Clerkenwell Design Week in the exhibition space of Apt Architecure, a large architecture studio with over 40 employees with an impressive curriculum in the project world. The exhibition stays open during the London Festival of Architecture, increasing the visibility of the exhibition.
Raw meets Refined is a collaboration of felt designer Margaret van Bekkum and organiser David Heldt from Connecting the Dots.
Apt Architecture recently moved into the Brownstone building at the heart of the creative area Clerkenwell celebrating its 10 anniversary. A prime location and a key destination for the Clerkenwell Design Week and the London Festival for Architecture. Apt Architecture is an official partner of the London Festival for Architecture programming various event and lectures during the month of June 2020.
During the CDW & LFA “Raw meets Refined” temporarily takes over the large vide of Apt Architecture arranging the space as a pop-up gallery. During the CDW/LFA, there will also be lectures and guided tours.
Margaret van Bekkum
Based in The Netherlands, felt designer Margaret van Bekkum designs high-end, sophisticated products that absorbs sound and appeal to the senses. Handcrafted and with her intense and intuitive feeling for style she explores new combinations with, for instance, gold or copper. The passion for exploring left her mark on both, product and interior design, for residential, office sector and hospitality.
With a broad experience of 20 years in producing international design exhibitions and publications, David Heldt is an organiser pur sang.
Amongst many other activities, he was the organiser of Enlightened Design during the London Design Festival, Design Language during the Milan Design Week and the publisher of The Dots magazine. His passion and mission is exploring cultural identity, for international product and furniture designers and brands.
Clerkenwell Design Week (CDW)
As well as hosting an abundance of furniture and interiors showrooms, Clerkenwell is also home to a variety of other creative practices including architects, branding agencies and craft studios.
In celebration of Clerkenwell Design Week, a selection of these local practices open their doors to the festival’s visitors and host workshops, displays and installations.
The London Festival of Architecture (LFA)
The London Festival of Architecture is the world’s largest annual architecture festival. The LFA and CDW appeals to a huge public audience attracted over 800,000 people and reached a global audience of 138 million people, making the two the most important events in the cultural calendar. This attracts many business visitors.

A large opening cocktail at the start of the exhibition will mix a variety of networks from the various parnters and participants. approximately 300 guest are expected to attend throughout the evening.

Participation for CDW + LFA: €3.000,- (19 May – 31 June 2020)
